ADVENTURE HOLIDAYS OF A LIFETIME FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WITH AN ILLNESS OR DISABILITY

NOMINATING A CHILD

IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN SELECTING A CHILD’S PLACE

Please  follow criteria appertaining to a child’s /young person’s application form

Thank you for your help in placing a child on a Katie’s Holiday of a Lifetime

How to avoid disappointment.   Please, do not confirm a place to any child, or their parents/guardians until we are in a position to confirm to you in writing the outcome of our selection procedure.

Selection Procedure.   All applications once fully completed and returned, are then overseen by our group doctor and if deemed applicable, a medical form will then be issued which will again be assessed by the group doctor and then sent onto our insurance underwriters, who give the final permission for each child  to travel.

Importance of a Well Balanced Group.   Our criteria enables us to produce a well balanced group of children/young persons and volunteers, enabling each child the chance to achieve to their fullest potential, therefore not depriving the child or others within the group.

Balance is set against the child’s illness or disability ability/.   Then set against suitable equipment and the method of skiing.   Then set against the helper ratio to meet any special needs.

Group Size. Being 20 children/young persons and 27 adults.   Enhanced CRB checks are carried out on all volunteers.  All completed applications will be kept on file for subsequent holidays.

What makes this child deserving?

Children that might be from disadvantaged backgrounds. (May not even hold a passport).

Children who have endured the traumas of major surgery or prolonged periods of treatment for life threatening illness and disability.   Perhaps spending long periods of time either in hospital or at home .

Children who have short and medium term life expectancy and those that will have to endure their disability for many years to come.

Children, who because of these circumstances wouldn’t even expect a holiday in the UK, let alone abroad.   Especially not skiing and in a colorful Italian ski resort, so this is only for non skiers.

For children that have subsequently missed out on schooling and friends including school outings and holidays because schools, airlines and coach operators and insurers have refused to take them.

Children that really are in need of such a holiday, a child that perhaps has never experienced travel.

To such children this would be a dream but with your help we can make the impossible very possible. (Reason enough for the time, effort and money that Katie’s Ski Tracks spends on each placement).

This isn’t Disney World, anyone can go there and you won’t find this opportunity on the NHS.
