Katie's Ski Tracks is a registered UK voluntary organisation that changes young lives by taking children from disadvantaged backgrounds, be it through life-threatening or life-limiting medical conditions, disability or extreme social problems on an adventure Skiing Holiday of a Lifetime to Italy - without their parents or carers.
Because of their conditions these youngsters are so often excluded from school and family holidays and for some, unfortunately, it will be the first and last holiday they will ever take.
Katie's Ski Tracks was named after the late Katie Noctor who helped co-found the charity in 1990, and who lost her own personal fight against cancer just 2 years later.
Now following in Katie's Ski Tracks each group travels overland with 20 children and 29 CRB-checked volunteers, including a paediatric medical team, carers and trained ski guides to meet the 24 hr needs of each individual child. We provide all the necessary medical and adaptive ski equipment, and a full entertainment programme. All the volunteers give their time for free and either fundraise or help pay their own fare.
Katie's Ski Tracks liaises with parents and all other relevant agencies that work with the children to allow them 10 magical days of exhilarating travel, fun and excitement giving them an opportunity to discover independence, confidence, self esteem and a whole new outlook on life; participating in experiences they never thought possible whilst giving some much needed respite for the family back home.
At Katie's we believe that fun and joy are just as important as medical research and equipment for children who perhaps can't wait long enough for the breakthrough they need or whose illnesses and treatments have brought pain, distress and disruption to their lives.
Katie's is run by volunteers who receive no wages or remuneration. With no authority funding, professional fundraisers or expensive marketing campaigns, support from the public is vital to keep making "The Impossible Possible".
We hope our voluntarily run website gives you a sense of the life-changing experience we give these children, and if you would like to help us please visit the fundraising section or click on the Donate button. We do not have wealthy corporate sponsors so we rely on whatever you can afford to donate - however small. If you can help - please accept a sincere Thank you.
