CRITERIA

METHOD OF SKIING - CHILD'S BI-SKI

AGE - 5 TO 7

SEX - FEMALE

WEIGHT - UNDER 3 STONE

CONDITION - WHEELCHAIR/BUGGY DEPENDENT

LOWER AND UPPER BODY DISABILITY - POSSIBLY WITH SLIGHT GRIP AND USE OF ARMS

INJURY: DISABILITY OR ASSOCIATED ILLNESS

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THIS CHILD?

The Child’s Bi-Ski will be assigned to this child only and will be of no use to any other child. This method of skiing is the ultimate for the wheelchair/buggy bound child.

This child does not have to comprehend instruction to use this equipment.

Supervised and manoeuvred by our experienced ski guide, who at all times will be tethered to the Ski.

It will be possible for this child to ski along side their able bodied friends but in a seated position.

SUITABLE ONLY FOR

Child will be comfortably assisted by only one Female adult carer

This child must be able to withstand lots of new and unfamiliar people and activities that will be encountered over 10 days and will find they are bombarded with the attention of the whole group, as this child will be the youngest and will be the group sweetheart.  

This child will have a great effect on the group as a whole but in particular to the other older children.

Some verbal communication skills would benefit this child

Slight neck and head control would also benefit this child

If the child has a learning disability it should only be moderate

If this child responds with a smile they are halfway there

NOT SUITABLE FOR

Any child over 3 Stone
Any child over 3Ft. 6” in height regarding manual handling and to fit into specialised adaptive ski

No profound learning disabilities
