This child/young person will ski with 4-Track outrigger flip skis. This method enables the skier to have 4 points of contact with the snow - both feet and flip skis This child must be able to comprehend instruction and to learn how to carve out their own turns in the snow by transferring their body weight onto the outrigger flip skis - long elbow crutches with small skis on the end and flip up metal cleats for walking. Hence the following 3-essential strengths required below
SUITABLE ONLY FOR Strong upper body & shoulders (essential) Strong in both arms (essential) Strong grip in both hands (essential) Ability to walk and stand for reasonably long periods of time Ability to walk independently for say a bi-lateral amputee or otherwise with the use of sticks or elbow crutches Wheelchair only to be used in the event of extra long journeys Ability for feet to enter ski boots without the skin breaking down Ski boots act as splints when splints are removed Reasonably mature attitude to comprehend instruction and to be able to operate equipment A reasonably strong will to achieve would benefit this child NOT SUITABLE FOR Learning difficulties regarding safety on the mountain Not suitable if frame or rolator is required for mobility Severely in-turned feet ********** Time to download, study and complete the application form - thank you If unsure please telephone Martin or Michelle on 0151 928 7595 or send us an e.mail
